U-Pick Apples
At Wick’d Bobcat Orchard, apple season is more than a harvest — it’s a coastal Maine experience. Nestled along 700 feet of private tidal oceanfront in DownEast Maine, our boutique orchard offers guests the opportunity to wander through approximately 200 mature trees and hand-select premium varieties including Jersey Mac, Paula Red, McIntosh, and Jonafree at peak ripeness. We operate as a limited-entry, small-batch U-Pick orchard to preserve quality, protect our trees, and create a relaxed, scenic atmosphere for families and visitors. Pre-measured picking bags are available, and guests are encouraged to slow down, enjoy the ocean views, and experience authentic Maine agriculture the way it was meant to be — simple, honest, and unforgettable.

How U-Pick Works
Our U-Pick apple season typically runs from late August through early October, depending on weather and ripening conditions here along the DownEast coast. Early varieties such as Jersey Mac and Paula Red are usually ready in late August to early September, with McIntosh and Jonafree ripening through mid-September into early October. Because every season is a little different in Maine, harvest timing may shift slightly from year to year. We post weekly updates as varieties come into their prime.
We are open Friday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM during the active harvest season.
When you arrive, you’ll check in at the farm stand and choose your orchard bag size before heading out to the open rows for the weekend. We rotate picking areas to keep the fruit at peak quality and to protect the health of our trees.
To keep things simple and transparent, apples are sold by bag size:
-
Peck Bag (approximately 10–12 lbs): $18
-
½ Bushel Bag (approximately 20 lbs): $30
-
Full Bushel Bag (approximately 40–42 lbs): $55
We kindly ask that guests use orchard-provided bags only and handle apples gently, lifting and twisting upward to remove the fruit cleanly from the branch. Most families spend 45–90 minutes wandering the orchard, enjoying the ocean breeze, and selecting fruit at their own pace.
Because Wick’d Bobcat Orchard is a small, rustic coastal orchard, quantities are naturally limited and certain varieties may sell out as the season progresses. Fresh non-alcoholic cider and other small-batch orchard goods may be available at the stand while supplies last.
***RESERVATIONS FOR U-PICK APPLES ARE NOT NECESSARY. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SHOW UP AT YOUR CONVENIENCE DURING OUR OPERATING HOURS. FOR FIELD TRIPS AND OTHER LARGE PARTIES OF MORE THAN 10 PEOPLE PLEASE CALL IN ADVANCE***
Orchard Safety & Farm Guidelines
Wick’d Bobcat Orchard is a working coastal farm, and we want every guest to enjoy their visit safely. Our orchard terrain includes natural features such as tree roots, uneven ground, small divots, and grassy walkways that may be slippery in wet conditions. Guests should wear sturdy footwear and supervise children at all times.
Late summer and early fall in Maine can bring bees, insects, and the possibility of ticks. We recommend appropriate clothing and checking for ticks after your visit. If you have known allergies to bee stings or insect bites, please plan accordingly.
Limited ladders may be available for reaching higher fruit. Ladders should be used with caution and at your own discretion. Please do not climb trees or stand on unstable branches.
By entering the orchard, guests acknowledge that farming is a natural outdoor environment and accept responsibility for their personal safety while on the property.
